The Naturescaper

MIKE
BOERGER

From a very early age, he created terrariums, aquatic environments and other self-sustaining living systems, not only out of aesthetic interest but because he wanted to understand how their spaces would influence the human experience.

One theme remained constant throughout: a curiosity about what made a place feel alive and how those spaces, in turn, shaped the people within them.

Naturescapers.Studio represents the natural progress of that journey, a design practice rooted in their accumulated experience of how space, nature and human response interrelate.

Co-Founder & Naturescaper

PITOU
MUTH

Founder of Outey Gardens, a landscaping project he created over seven years ago with the mission to bring people back to nature.

Pitou combines Balinese garden aesthetics with traditional Khmer culture to deliver a unique garden experience here in Cambodia. He attributes the quality of his work to both his dedication and creativity but also to techniques he has honed over years of hands-on work with his land.

He believes Cambodians have lost touch with gardening and farming and hopes his efforts will inspire younger generations to rediscover such values.

The Practice

A Design Practice Rooted in Human Biology

Naturescapers Studio is a full-service biophilic design and build practice — we design, install, and maintain nature-integrated spaces from concept through to completion.

We work at the intersection of architecture, horticulture, environmental psychology, and spatial design — creating environments that perform as well as they look.

Our clients range from private homeowners and boutique hospitality brands to commercial developers and large-scale public projects.

FAQ

Common Questions

What is biophilic design?+

Biophilic design is the practice of integrating nature — plants, water, natural light, organic materials, and living systems — into built environments. The goal is not decoration but performance: spaces designed to reduce stress, improve focus, and increase occupant well-being based on how humans are biologically wired to respond to nature.

Do you work internationally?+

Yes. We have studios in Phnom Penh, Mexico City, and New Jersey. We take on projects internationally and can conduct assessments remotely for projects in locations we do not have a physical presence. Contact us to discuss your project location.

What size projects do you work on?+

We work across a wide range of scales — from private residences and boutique offices to large hospitality properties and commercial developments. We typically engage on projects with a design budget starting from $10,000.

Can you collaborate with our existing architect or interior designer?+

Absolutely. We regularly work alongside architects, interior designers, and project managers as a specialist biophilic consultant. We can integrate our work into any stage of a project — from early concept through to completion.

How long does a project take?+

Project timelines vary significantly by scope. A residential biophilic consultation and design can be completed in 4–8 weeks. Larger commercial or hospitality projects typically run 3–9 months from assessment to handover. We provide a clear timeline at the start of every project.

What is included in the complimentary assessment?+

The assessment is a 60–90 minute session — remote or on-site — in which we analyse your current environment and identify what is working against your well-being and spatial performance. You receive a written summary with 3–5 high-impact recommendations and a clear direction for implementation. There is no obligation to proceed with a full project.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance?+

Yes. For projects involving living systems — plants, water features, green walls — we offer ongoing care and maintenance programmes. Every project includes a detailed handover care plan, and we can provide scheduled maintenance visits on request.
